Minneapolis' new poet laureate shares her work and her plans for 2024 12/20/2023

I was listening to Minnesota Public Radio today as Cathy Wurzer was interviewing the newly-named Minneapolis Poet Laureate, Heid E. Erdrich. At the end of the interview, Heid was asked if there is another poet whose work she appreciates.

Heid: “Oh my gosh, John Lee Clark, a poet who was on the short list for the national book award… [he] is a DeafBlind poet and a genius with the English language. I love his book _How to Communicate_. And he’s a Minnesotan!”

Cathy: “He is! And we had him on the show, and that was the most interesting interview I’ve done in my 30+ years as a journalist. It was amazing, Heid. Oh, great choice!”

It was a delightful surprise that I thought our Twin Cities ASL community might appreciate knowing! As of right now (10:45p on 12/19), the transcript for the interview isn’t up yet but should be by tomorrow. I’ve typed up the relevant comments, and I’ll post the link below.

Adrean Clark, Sharon Clark, Lee Clark, Keith Clark, Paula Kay Ozuna-Clark

What is Dinner Table Syndrome and Why Does It Matter? I’ve always believed that enjoying meals as a family on a regular basis is super important, and is perhaps the most important part of our day.
