The United States Supreme Court unanimously rejected arguments by an alliance of prolife doctors and medical organizations challenging the FDA most recent approval of prescribing mifepristone (a drug used in medication abortions) without any requirement of an in-person visit. This week the Prolife Center at the University of St. Thomas filed two amicus briefs with the US Supreme Court - one in the FDA v. Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine arguing that the agency’s approval of mail order abortions endangers women and threatens the conscience of many doctors who treat post-abortion injuries and one in Idaho v. United States arguing the attempt to override state abortion laws by a distorted interpretation of the Emergency Medical Treayand Labor Act is invalid under the spending clause and preemption doctrine. Busy week!

This summer 4 UST law schools have been helping research and draft briefs as well as short articles and a longer law review article that defend the life and dignity of the unborn and their mothers. Reach out to Professor Collett if you want to be a part of new projects this fall. [email protected].
