Wow, what an AWESOME way to wrap up November right before Thanksgiving! BAM's Diversity in the Workplace was an incredible success with our guest speakers, John Hardy from Best Buy and Elda Macias from Securian!

During this event, we covered multiple "tough topics" related to diversity, including Handling Diversity Backlash, Cultural Diversity: Diversity and Expression, and Performative Activism vs Authentic Allyship.

Below, are some sincere and anonymous comments from attendees on what they enjoyed most about the event!

*I appreciate the advice on imposter syndrome! It is quite unfortunate that minorities have to constantly have to battle these assumptions, but I’ll learn to be more confident and sure of myself!

*I’ve learned a lot about effective allyship, and how to be most effective and supportive in these conversations! I also really like what Elda said about how engaging in conversations supersedes posting on social media.

*I loved the whole conversation we had today. I loved the idea that we should close the gap between shock and acceptance! I also resonate with Elda's story about the open conversation!

*I really resonated with Elda's story about sometimes leading the pack with men in groups haha. Oftentimes, I am the only woman and woman of color in my tech teams. Sometimes it can be training and taking initiative on multiple projects but hopefully, these experiences will shape work-life this January 🙂

*I also really loved the idea of flipping the script when someone tries to lessen your achievements to being a product of your identity, "how does it feel to live in a society that has at every turn has set you up for success?"
