Dear Mi Gente, words cannot express our deepest condolences about the loss of Karen Delgado-Villanueva. She was our 2022-2023 Co-President, but she was more than just that. She was an activist, organizer, friend, mentor, sister, daughter and partner. Her loss is felt deeply in and around the Mi Gente Community.

To honor Karen we invite you to join us on August 29th at 6pm in Mi Gente Room 211 of Coffman Memorial Union to honor and celebrate Karen.

We also invite those who can to donate to her gofundme linked in our bio. These funds are going straight to her family to assist them during this time.

Karen is entering her last year here at the U as a fourth year majoring in Political Science!

She enjoys concerts, hammocking, and painting! 🎨

Saying thank you to our 2022-2023 Co-President: Dania Barrera Carrasco! As Co-President of Mi Gente Latinx Student Cultural Center, she advocates for the needs and goals of the organization.

Dania is a one of Mi Genre’s graduates, graduating in Sociology of law with a minor in Chicano/Latino studies and political science.

She enjoys playing sudoku, trying new food, and spending money on concerts! 🎵

Ashlee is in charge of creating marketing content ranging from flyers to design decisions and plans on all platforms including our social media!
She is going to be a third year majoring in Business Marketing.
She enjoys listening to music, doing anything creative (drawing to anything marketing related), hanging out with friends, and watching video essays! 💘

Saying thank you to our 2022-2023 Advocacy Director: Andy Warriner!
Andy is in charge of coordinating events that advocate for the needs of the students through workshops, informational sessions, and social events! They also coordinate events highlighting issues that affect the Latinx community.

They are an up and coming third year majoring in Political Science and minoring in Chicano/Latino Studies.
They enjoy baking, writing poetry, gardening, and have a love for tarot and crystals!

Alberto is in charge of answering emails, DMs, and going to meetings as a representative of Mí Gente!

Alberto is one of Mi Genre’s graduates: having finished his fourth year in Journalism!

Alberto likes to write creative essays (when he has the time)! But he has a major love for his favorite band The 1975 and a big soft spot for the video game character Kirby.

Luisa is in charge of creating, planning, organizing, delegating, and running our cultural events! The Co-Cultural Coordinators make these events possible and help make these events educational, engaging, and fun!

Luisa is going to be a fourth year student majoring in Global Studies!
She enjoys cooking, going to the gym, and most importantly: spending time with her cats 💕

Martin is going to be a third year studying Studies in Cinema and Media Culture (SCMC), Communication Studies, & Cultural Studies and Comparative Literature (CSCL)!
He makes movies for all and also enjoys running, playing video games, and listening to audio books 📚

He is entering his third year while majoring in Architecture!
