Danni’s decision to serve with Reading Corps came from their passion for working with children. An aspiring paraprofessional and former Personal Care Assistant, the recent high school graduate is no stranger to supporting others. This year, Danni’s enjoying seeing students make progress as they become stronger, more confident readers.
A first-year member, Danni expresses how rewarding it is to know that tutoring is helping more children advance in their reading skills. “Seeing my kids exit and succeed is so fulfilling,” Danni says. “I love allowing them to teach me what they know while I share my knowledge with them.
After service wraps up, Danni plans to use the Segal AmeriCorps Education award to earn a paraprofessional license. Thank you for the care and support you put into your work with students, Danni. We are so happy you chose to become a tutor!

For this week's , we're shining a light on Diana, an experienced Reading Corps tutor with a lifelong passion for community service and literacy education. With a background in human resources, staff development, and volunteer program leadership, Diana has spent decades mentoring youth, adults, and seniors—and continues to bring that same dedication to her service with young readers.
"I look forward to getting to know and supporting the students," Diana shares. She's seen that impact ripple outward, including one moment when a student she knew from guest reading in her class grew into a confident reader. The student even became a guest reader for fellow readers!

This week, we're recognizing Kaden, a returning Reading Tutor who is serving students at a school in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, for the third year in a row! After graduating from college in 2020 and taking a job at a factory, Kaden was looking for something more fulfilling. When he moved to the Madison area in 2023, he applied to Reading Corps—following the path into education like many members of his family.
Kaden has had the opportunity to serve at the same elementary school for the past three years. He says he's looking forward to building deeper connections and feeling more at home in his school community. "I'm really looking forward to seeing familiar faces and feeling more like I belong in the school's ecosystem," Kaden shares. One of his most meaningful moments of service was seeing a student he worked with for months be nominated for a BEAM Award for reading improvement.
Kaden plans to use his Segal AmeriCorps Education Award to pursue teacher certification courses. We thank you for returning for another year of service and making a positive impact on the students you support, Kaden!
