The end is here. Feburary 7th our last breeding pair will be retired. This ends several genetic lines we worked with so that makes it extra hard.
I will now be open to rescues and surrenders as the sugar glider over population problem has really taken on it's own life. Our job Is to ensure all adopted gliders go into educated forever homes.
Lack of education and support to families with these amazing little bundles is a leading cause of surrender. Were going to work hard to change that.

Today was fun. Trimmed a billion tiny little toes. No nips! Only a couple pi**ed off crabs. I use a cuticle trimmer and simply hold their hand and trim the very sharpest tip off of each nail. This should be done biweekly to keep toes safe and your glider happily running about....
Nail trimming is a ESSENTIAL.part of owning a sugar glider. Why? Because caged animals do not have natural substances to trim their nails (tree bark, digging, ripping at seeds and bugs and more). They need us to make sure their nails are safe and not catching on cage items.
If you do not trim their claws they can DIE.... Yes DIE! Why? Because in all cages gliders need pouches to sleep in, and fleece like fabric is used often for bridges and perches (hammocks). When their claws get too long they get tangled in the fabrics and the glider will either pull loose (often ripping their entire nail out), or even chew their feet off. Ive now had the horror of finding out one of my poor neglected gliders who was adopted out twisted her leg so hard to escape she broke her back. Her mate whom is soon to be on his way back to me was found to be stuck in his pouch upon repossession and was dangerously close to the same fate. His nails were so long they curled and he was literally imbedded into the pouch. There was no way without intervention he would have safely escaped...
There is nothing more horrible, and cruel then a preventable death from neglect.
Trim your gliders nails, keep them happy and healthy for life.
