Center for Compact and Efficient Fluid Power (CCEFP)

Changing the way fluid power is researched, applied and taught.

The Center for Compact and Efficient Fluid Power (CCEFP) is a network of researchers, educators, students and industry working together to transform the fluid power industry—how it is researched, applied and studied. Center research is creating hydraulic and pneumatic technology that is compact, efficient, and effective. The CCEFP’s education and outreach program is designed to transfer this knowledge to diverse audiences—students of all ages, users of fluid power and the general public.

Georgia Tech was our host for the Fluid Power Advanced Manufacturing Consortium Roadmapping event taking place July 28-29. Funded by a grant from AMTech (Advanced Manufacturing Technology Consortia). The goal of the FPAMC is to research, support and develop long-term, pre-competitive, and enabling technology for the U.S. manufacturing industry in the area of fluid power manufacturing.

Representatives from industry and academia participated in two days of discussions and breakouts as a first step in identifying key customer competitiveness drivers, fluid power manufacturing capabilities and emerging manufacturing technologies.

Researchers Pick Hydraulic Over Electric to Control Quadruped Robot Legs

http://www.designworldonline.com/researchers-pick-hydraulic-over-electric-to-control-quadruped-robot-legs/

Researchers pick hydraulic over electric to control quadruped robot legs The idea of bio-inspired robots helping humans in danger is far from new. Rather incredibly, the idea actually predates the 20th century in literature, and we see it in movies as early as 1927. As is the case with most science fiction though, the reality of the technology is playing catch-up. Tracke…

Hospitals Fail To Protect Nursing Staff From Becoming Patients 02/18/2015

NPR investigated why so many nurses are injured in patient transfers. More patient lifts would be a step forward, but more intuitive and capable patient transfer assist devices will be an even better step.

CCEFP is working on an answer. Project Testbed 4, Fluid Power Transfer Device.
