To our community and beyond,
2020 has proven how strong of a community we have. Furthermore, the past months have shown us what can happen when people call for action and stand against racism, ignorance and abuse of power. As Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) released a Temporary Final Rule including restrictions on F1 visa holders, our community is again called to action.
The modifications are restricting non-immigrant students to participate in a hybrid semester, including in-person and online classes for fall semester 2020, even though we are in the midst of a pandemic. Augsburg University is together with ISSS working on a plan that will allow international students to continue, or start, with their academic journey whether they are here in the U.S still or have had to return to their home country.. Augsburg University is committed to come together, once again, to face these challenges and successfully comply with the restrictions.
We are calling upon our community to do what they can in order to support the international community at Augsburg, but also beyond the Augsburg community. There is a petition running and we encourage everyone to sign and share (find the link in the bottom of this post).
We cannot and will not allow this to happen in silence.
With power,
International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS)
