First shiai in new dojo.

Our Sensei, Robert Fusaro, was a force of nature. He was wholeheartedly devoted to the art of karate and exceptionally gifted at practicing and teaching it. It was clear that karate was the only path for Sensei and he guided an uncountable number of us on that path for 60 years. Before his health really started to slow him down he taught continuously at least 5 days a week. His only vacations were to attend karate events around the country and the world. As a direct result of his years of teaching, Shotokan karate in the Midwest is rich with talented, dedicated individuals who will carry on his legacy for years to come. He leaves a hole that can never be filled.

We miss you, Sensei. Thank you for all that you left us. We will do our best to continue on our karate journey without you, and though it hurts to lose you, we will carry the best parts of you with us.

Sensei Fusaro left us 3 years ago today. But he certainly didn’t leave us empty handed. Thank you, Sensei. We miss you.
