We are pleased to announce that thanks to generous funding and support from Qatar Foundation International, Minnesota high school students will again be able to take one or more summer Arabic courses in the University of Minnesota Arabic Language Program! These merit- and need-based awards are available to high school junior, seniors, and graduating seniors in the wider Twin Cities area. Each award covers the cost of tuition for one or two summer Arabic courses at the University of Minnesota, as well as the cost of textbooks. Interested high school learners can choose to take intensive Beginning Arabic I and/or II; intensive Intermediate Arabic I and/or II; and/or Arabic Calligraphy with the School Break Arabic Program Award.
Details about the awards and the application process can be found at z.umn.edu/qfi-awards. To apply, high school learners should complete an application form,
email a personal statement and high school transcript to the University of Minnesota Arabic Language Program, and
have one teacher email a recommendation letter on their behalf to the program.

All About the New MA Track in Language Pedagogy In response to a strong interest internationally and among UMN undergraduates, AMES has introduced a new MA plan in language pedagogy for aspiring language instructors.

The University of Minnesota Arabic Language Program is partnering with Qatar Foundation International for Summer Arabic Study Awards! We will be awarding twenty scholarships to high school juniors and seniors aged 16 or older who would like to take ARAB 3811 - Egyptian Colloquial Arabic, ARAB 1001 - Survival Arabic, and/or ARAB 3201 - Arabic Calligraphy at the University of Minnesota in summer 2023. The Summer Arabic Study Awards will cover the full cost of tuition and textbooks. Our summer courses run for five weeks and meet in person on the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities campus for a period of five weeks in the evenings, either once or twice a week.
