This past Tuesday, our 10,000 Families Study team celebrated the retirement of one of our Principal Investigators.

Lisa Peterson, PhD, has dedicated her career to understanding how environmental exposures and tobacco-related chemicals contribute to cancer risk, bringing decades of scientific expertise, leadership, and wisdom to the field of public health and cancer research.

Her guidance has been central to the growth and success of the 10,000 Families Study, and we are deeply grateful for everything she has contributed to our team and community. It is truly bittersweet. We will miss her tremendously, but we are also excited for all the new adventures retirement will bring her.

Clinical research helps drive new discoveries, improve treatments, and create healthier futures for communities across Minnesota and beyond. Every participant, researcher, and supporter plays an important role in advancing science and making a lasting difference in health care.

What a busy and inspiring week we had! 💙

On Wednesday, we were in northern Minnesota at Community Connect, and on Saturday our team was proud to be in two places at once—at the SEWA Annual Health & Resource Fair in Brooklyn Park and the Breast Cancer Education Association (BCEA) Wellness Fair in Plymouth.

Our mission is clear: to make sure every community is represented in the 10,000 Families Study. By working together with families across , we can better understand how environmental exposures impact our health and help build healthier futures for generations to come.
