TODAY at the Fair: The Fiber Shredder: Advancing Textile Recycling with Prof. Abigail Clarke-Sather, Dept. of Mechanical & Industrial Engineering, University of Minnesota Duluth.
Textile waste is a key contributor to climate degradation. Learn how Minnesota engineers are leading the way in transforming old clothes into new yarn!
Visit us in the Creative Activities Building to connect with fellow weavers and spinners, try weaving on a variety of small looms, explore the rich world of textile fibers, and so much more!
During the week, we’ll host short presentations at 10:30am, 12:30pm, and 2:30pm highlighting a process or program supporting Minnesota’s fiber arts ecosystem: dyeing with invasive plants, cultivating and spinning plant fibers, shredding textile waste into fibers for spinning, and so much more!
Join us Sept 5 & 6 for Activity Alley! Our version of the Midway, Activity Alley invites weekend Fairgoers to try their hand at transforming fiber to yarn. No matter your age or ability, we welcome everyone to step right up!
