Join us Thursday, Apr 25 for "Pagan Spain (1957) in Spanish: Censorship, Plagiarism and Retranslation of African American author Richard Wright" presented by Daniel Linder from the Universidad de Salamanca. z.umn.edu/sppt-events
--
Wright travelled from his expatriate home in Paris to Barcelona, Valencia, Seville, and Madrid, among other destinations, and Pagan Spain (1957) is his provocative account of his travels. The novel has been translated into Spanish three times (1970, 1989 and 2022), but these texts have been largely ignored, even by scholars of translation.
