Our children are going through so much as they are developing, but it has been an extremely stressful time for littles navigating through a global pandemic and now witnessing a war. Although the war in Ukraine seems so far away, kids are picking up on aspects of it, and even what it means for them and their fears as well. The mom psychologist shared some helpful tips that can hopefully help to start the conversation with your littles at home.

Today is the last day of black history month so it’s fitting to mention the recent and historic Supreme Court nomination of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson
-if confirmed, she will be the FIRST black woman to be on the Supreme Court.
There have been 113 Supreme Court justices in U.S history and, only 6 were not white men.

ACTIVISM:
Efforts to promote, impede, direct or intervene in social, political, economic, or environmental reform with the desire to make changes in society toward a perceived greater good.
We are so proud of Leity, a 12 year old activist that wore a swimsuit that she made herself that displayed the three words… Black Lives Matter ✊🏾
Leity was almost disqualified and denied the ability to compete in her swim meet this weekend in Duluth, MN! Thankfully, with the support of her family, allies, and the Duluth NAACP, Leity was able to compete!

Our Mission is Simple. Educate and Give.
Speak Up Book Club Inc. was formed in 2020 by……….
Parents and educators who believe we all do better when we all do better.
Our mission is to encourage dialogue and bridge diversity gaps in literature through education, communication and donations. We know representation in children’s literature matters. We hope to promote active engagement and the investment of resources to unrepresented communities.
Our first goal is donate books to BIPOC children creating a in-home library that is reflective of their own family. Children need to see themselves and see themselves being celebrated. Historically BIPOC have been, and continue to be, underrepresented, misrepresented, or invisible in children's literature. We accomplish the donation goal through subscriptions to families like yours. We provide new resources, actions plans, activities and a new book each month that help parents facilitate discussions of hard topics. Racism, white privilege, and how to take action can be intimidating to tackle. We want to help.
