Just a reminder of a few guidelines that we have to follow in order for us to be able to bring this benefit to our students!

The CEP program allows schools to put a balanced HEALTHY meal in front of all students. This allows students to begin making healthy choices in their eating habits.

Students must take a complete meal in order for the meal to be free. This doesn't mean they have to eat it all. If a student would rather not take the complete meal they are still able to purchase individual entrees or milks with their own money. This can be done with cash or a more convenient option is to use

Media Release for Community Eligibility Provision (CEP)

The Mineral Wells ISD has announced it will continue its policy to operate the Community Eligibility Program (CEP) under the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program for the 2024-2025 school year at all campuses. Schools qualifying to operate CEP serve breakfast and lunch to all children at no charge and eliminate the collection of meal applications for free, reduced-price, and paid student meals. This approach reduces burdens for both families and school administrators and helps ensure that students receive nutritious meals. Students can still purchase ala carte (extra servings) and snack items with cash, check or from money on their account(MySchoolBucks). A Socio-Economic form will need to be filled out at the beginning of the school year. It can be found on the registration page or in the student packet.

"We Serve Education Everyday!"

All students at all campuses will receive Free Breakfast and Lunch due to the CEP, (Community Eligibility Provision) program that was approved in 2018-19 through TDA. Students can still purchase ala carte and snack items with cash, check or from money on their account.
MWISD Food Services proudly serves more than 2500 nutritious meals each day, fueling our students' academic performance and inspiring the development of lifelong dietary health and wellness behaviors.
We are in partnership with the National School Breakfast and Lunch Programs. These programs are tools to provide nutritious, delicious, and complete meals to children. They contribute to a better understanding of good nutrition and better eating habits.
MWISD chooses 3 days per year for student parties. Smart Snack Regulations do not apply for these days. These dates are: the day before winter break, Valentine's Day, and the last day of school.

Mission Statement

The Mission of the Mineral Wells Independent School District Food Services Department is to guarantee high-quality food and nutrition

programs in every Mineral Wells school through educational support, resources, and advocacy.
This institution is an equal opportunity provider.

Nutrition Policy

In 2010, the Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act was passed. New meal pattern regulations were released by the USDA stating that all students must be served a food-based menu option. The food-based menu planning reflects these guidelines so that our students can choose a meal at breakfast or lunch that can include healthy choices from each of the five food categories: protein, grains, fruit, vegetables, and milk.
Since 2014-2015 Smart Snacks Regulations have been in effect. This guarantees that all food sold in any MWISD school during the school day will meet healthier standards. In addition, the new meal pattern will address 4 specific nutrients: calories, sodium, saturated fat, and trans-fat.
