You need to be Point in the Right Direction

When we say point, we mean Mineral Point. The direction you travel when you get to town, well that's up to you. We can guarantee you will find art, history, delicious eats, and so much more.

Let's start off with the history and museums you should check out. First off, you must check out the Mineral Point Railroad Society museum. It's the oldest surviving depot in the state. A lot of memorabilia and cool models to check out. Additionally, you can't skip out on a trip to Orchard Lawn. Tour the grounds and if you plan your trip right, you can be in town on a "Jammin on the Porch" night which are fantastic community concerts held by the Mineral Point Historical Society. Lastly, a show at the Mineral Point Opera House will leave you in awe and planning another trip back to catch a different show.

Now let's talk food! Other than Subway, you won't find a single fast food business in town, the way it should be. The local restaurants will fill you up and give you great recommendations for what to see and do next. Cafe 43 Coffee House can wire you up with your favorite cup of coffee and a light breakfast. Wild Blue Yonder Coffeehouse can do the same but don't leave the shop without first checking out the dessert box. Both locations also have a few alcoholic drinks if you come back later in the day. Pointer Cafè is just good "down home cookin" serving breakfast, lunch, and Friday night fish fry. Red Rooster Cafe also has breakfast and a pasty available daily. In fact, some say their ancestors invented the pasty. Stop and ask them yourself.

If you enjoy an adult beverage with your meal, boy do we have suggestions for you. At Midway Bar & Grill you must get a burger. Midway Bar is currently part of a Burger Competition in southwest Wisconsin. If you're looking for fantastic pizza and a cool atmosphere, Popolo Pizzeria has to be at the top of your list. Lastly, your dining experience at Eliza’s Lounge will be nothing short of memorable. Mouthwatering meals served regularly while you can enjoy entertainment of all kinds. At the end of the day, if you're looking for a nightcap, The Mine Shaft MP will have exactly what you need.

Do you possibly plan a trip around your sweet tooth or maybe award winning cheese? Sweet Life Ice Cream Parlor sells hand-scooped ice cream. If you're feeling adventurous, try a craft soda float. Another option is Atomic Chocolate Co.. So many varieties of chocolates and oh so good. Atomic Chocolate Co. is located inside Popolo Pizzeria. And that award winning cheese, that can be found at Hook's Cheese.

Now that you've had your chef's kiss meal, how about a little shopping? A boutique mercantile, Sullivan’s sits at the foot of High Street. Numerous vendors inside the shop offer you a unique shopping experience. In contrast, Aspen Ridge Home & Garden has antiques and decor that will elevate any space in your home. Additionally, Aspen Ridge has a full greenhouse for you to take something "living" home with you. If you're looking for something original, stop by Mulberry Pottery and talk to Frank. He's been a potter for 50 years and can teach you a thing or two. He also has works available for sale. One of the newest stores in Point is The Violet Fig. Snag beautiful flower arrangements or tea and take them home with you. Lastly, Republic of Letters is one of only a handful of indie bookstores in the region. Check out there vast selection of reading materials.

Art and creativity is in abundance. The Crafty offers a comfortable place for everyone to create works of art. The Crafty also has preplanned classes for people to attend and enjoy. If you're looking for art you can really sink your teeth in, The Book Kitchen is that place. Nicole, a former chef, offers classes where you can learn and taste amazing dishes. Lastly, there's an organization that encourages and promotes the love of art called Arts Mineral Point. Check them out and some of their events throughout the year.

To round things out, if you've made it this far, chances are you realized you can't do it all in one day. Stay for one, two, or maybe even three nights to truly take in everything Mineral Point has to offer. A couple great lodging options are Hôtel Mineral Point and Lion & the Porcupine. Hotel Mineral Point also offers a cafe and bar on-site while Lion & the Porcupine will soon have a pub for you to enjoy. You can't go wrong with either location.

Finally, before leaving town, stop at Five Point Market and snag some great meats and cheeses from the area. Beverages crafted in the area can also be found.

In the end, we hope we "pointed" you in the right direction.
