The Instrumental Music Department in the Mineral Point Schools exists to prepare students in a meaningful way to understand, value, and enjoy music throughout their lives. In doing so, students will learn to appreciate the unique talents each person possesses and the value of sharing those talents with others. The department is committed to nurturing the development of independent music-makers who can express themselves in multiple ways.

🎵 A big congratulations to Freya Grettie-Belling (Orchestra) who auditioned and was accepted to the prestigious Wisconsin School Music Association (WSMA) Middle School State Honors Project! She will participate as a French Horn player in late October as part of the Wisconsin State Music Conference.

Her selection identifies her as one of Wisconsin’s finest middle school musicians. This year, over 1100 students auditioned for the 313 available positions in the Middle Level Honors State Music Project.

🎵 We'd like to give a special shout out to our two entries who achieved elite status at the recent Wisconsin School Music Association (WSMA) State Solo & Ensemble competition at UW-Platteville!

Nominated for prestigious Exemplary Soloist recognition were:
-- Josie Dunn, Oboe Solo
-- Reese Smith, Music Theatre Solo

State festival adjudicators select the most exceptional performances at each of the festival campuses. Congrats, Josie and Reese, on your nominations!
