🌟 Shoutout to two amazing Richardson students! 🌟
We are so proud to celebrate Deanna Jones, 3rd grade, and Jaxyn Mitchell, 4th grade, who are members of Girl Scout Troop 213!

This weekend, their troop made a wonderful contribution to our community by setting up a Free Little Library at Victory Park 📚❤️—creating a special place where neighbors can share, discover, and enjoy books.

Thank you, Deanna and Jaxyn, for representing Richardson with kindness, leadership, and a love of reading! We are so proud of you!

Mrs. Elkins’ 5th graders put on their detective hats as they investigated “The Girl From Spirit Island,” the opening of The Birchbark House book! Students searched for text evidence, followed clues, made inferences, asked thoughtful questions, and developed predictions about what may happen next. They were Literary Detectives at work.

For the past two years, we have started each school day with Morning Movement! ❤️🤍🖤

Research shows that physical activity can have positive effects on children’s attention, concentration, memory, and readiness to learn. With Morning Movement, we take movement a step further by incorporating fun activities that cross the body’s midline and encourage both sides of the body to work together.

These coordinated movements support important skills such as bilateral coordination, visual tracking, attention, working memory, and focus—skills students use throughout the school day for reading, writing, math, and more.

In just five minutes each morning, our students get their bodies moving, engage their brains, and prepare for a successful day of learning!

For the last 6+ years, we have used Google Meet for our morning announcements each day. This begins at 7:45 AM and ends at 8:00 AM every morning. Each day we have a grammar detective slide, birthday celebrations, student-led morning readiness and pledge of allegiance, a word of the week, a habit of the month, bad jokes, affirmations, and other highly intentional add-ins. Ask your student about our daily jokes on morning announcements. Students not coming to school until 8:00 AM or after are missing a valuable piece of our day!
