Here’s a 1st day of school story written by a mom:

We took Gavin to school this morning. As soon as the 1st bell rang Gavin was off, no hug, no goodbye, off he went to 3rd grade,✌️out! Later in the morning I received a call from his school. It was his teacher and Gavin on the phone. I was thinking maybe he was sad for not saying goodbye. “Hi mommy, I was wondering if um, I could get school lunch because it’s a chicken sandwich, it’s my favorite?” Then he ends up on the district page for his school lunch 😂

Welcome back, Gavin and friends! We sure did miss feeding you!! 🍗 🥪 🍎 😋

🎒✨ Calling all Pre-K & Kindergarten families! ✨🎒

The first days of school are exciting, and a little practice at home can make lunchtime even smoother!

Before school starts, help your child:
🍎 Practice entering their student PIN (lunch number)
🥪 Open lunch containers, milk cartons, and food packages independently
💧 Pack easy-to-open water bottles and lunch items

Building these small skills helps students feel confident, keeps lunch lines moving, and gives them more time to enjoy their meal with friends.

💙2026 Nevada School Nutrition Association Conference @ Atlantis in Reno! 💙

Today, our School Nutrition and Warehouse team gathered together to celebrate each other, plus another year in the books!

We have Deb Kepler who is retiring after 33 years of service to SNP and DCSD! Mary Berry is also joining the retirement club and we couldn’t be more excited for them both… and maybe a little jealous!

We’re also proud to announce our 24/25 EOY Keri Vincent and 25/26 EOY Jason Janota, both being recognized as Distinguished Staff for School Nutrition & Warehouse, kudos to them on their nominations and excellence in SNP & Whse!

Lastly, here’s to another successful year and feeding our favorite people in all of Douglas County, our amazing students!
