Hello Parents and Students!

We are halfway through this month’s FitKids Challenge! 💪

I’m excited to see how many of you are taking on this challenge and dedicating a minute or two to accomplishing the daily challenges.

I do recognize that life is busy and schedules are full! So, as a nod to the craziness of family life, if you need to do two challenges a day, in order to catch up on missed days, I’m okay with that, but PLEASE limit your child to ONLY TWO a day.

The goal of this challenge is to encourage a DAILY habit of movement for students (and their families). While I know many of the students COULD complete all the challenges in one day, doing so won’t help the kids grasp the concept of creating the daily, consistent habits for success. 🙏

Finally, just a couple of quick reminders 👇 about the challenge:

Each daily challenge MUST have a parent’s initial and date by it in order to count.

Please have your child’s name, grade and teacher on the paper when they turn it in.

This helps me track which class has the most participation.

Challenges must be turned in the first week of the following month in order to count for class participation. Challenge sheets turned in afterward, if filled out correctly, WILL earn the student a Brag Tag, but won’t count for class participation.

This will help me get the winning class their “trophy” in a timely manner.

Dear Parents,

This is just a friendly reminder that the end of the 1st month of our 30-day challenge is upon us. When your child has completed the month, they are to bring their calendar to Mr. R. on their 1st PE class of the new month. I will hand them a brag tag as they walk into class for their hard work over the previous month.

Your child’s October calendar will be coming home this week in their peechee. Please keep an eye out for it.
If you missed this month’s challenge, you can still be eligible for the Challenge Event by completing the next three months (Oct, Nov, Dec) challenges.

Dear Mighty Mustang Parents,

First, a GIANT Thank You to all the families that completed our first 30 Day FitKids challenge in September. You guys did awesome and are on your way to the Challenge Party!

If you missed the September challenge, don’t worry, here is the October challenge!

This year, the other elementary school P.E. teachers and I have set a goal of getting more kids, and their families, enjoying all the benefits of being active and healthy with our FitKids 30 Day Challenges.

Here’s how it will work;

Prior to the start of each month, your Mountain Lion will receive a new 30 Day Challenge in their peechee.
Each day, they pick ONE of the activities listed and perform it as described.
If they don’t know or understand the activity, feel free to contact me at [email protected] for some clarification, or have them ask me at school.
Put your (the parent) initials in the circle next to the listed activity.
Write the date next to the circle.
Reat #2 - #4 until the month is over.
During the first week of the next month, your child can turn in their completed Challenge Sheet to me. If your child has completed 26 of the 30 activities listed, they will receive a special prize!
If your child turns in three of the first four challenges, they will be eligible to participate in the Challenge Party!

Parents! Mr. R here.

Only a few more weeks to be working on our first ever FitKids monthly challenge.

So if your child is looking to earn their first Brag Tag, please join them in making the FitKids monthly challenge a daily habit.

That daily habit is probably the most important part of the monthly challenge. I know the challenges aren’t that tough and your child could probably knock out, 6,7, 8 or maybe 10 a day, right?

But that’s not really the point.

The point is to get them started on a habit of doing something every day, no matter how small. It’s the consistent action, no matter how small, that will help create the habits that shape ourselves and our children.

So even though they might WANT to do all 30 challenges in 2 days, remind them it is about the daily habit.

Because, as Jack Canfield (author of Chicken Soup for the Soul) says….
