Our students reflected on their first week at Webster Junior High! Here is what they had to say:

💬 “The first week of school has been good for me. The teachers are understanding, they help you when needed, they are not mean, and they make the classwork and homework easy. The first week has been wonderful.”

💬 “My first week of school has been pretty good. The teachers are great, and I’m already learning some things despite it being the first week. I think this year will be a good year for Webster.”

💬 “It has been good. The teachers have been nice to me, and the food is good.”

💬 “This first week of school has been good so far, and I think this school year will be easy and go smoothly.”

💬 “The first week of school has been fun! I am hoping for this year to go the best it can.”

💬 “This first week of school has gone very well. I have very nice teachers, and I have some of my friends in my classes. Many people have told me eighth grade is the best year, and so far, I believe them. I believe this year will be good.”

💬 “The first week of school has been great, and I think this year will be like a ride toward destiny—showing people your characteristics and being yourself.”

💬 “The first week of school has been satisfactory and filled with equanimity. I’ve learned new things that are truly helping me understand that learning is about conceptual understanding, not simply memorizing steps!”

💬 “The first week of school has been good for me because my teachers are nice and teach me well so that I can fully understand the lessons. I think this year will be a difficult but fun school year because next year I will be going to high school.”

💬 “Thank you so much for letting me come into this group because it really makes me feel comfortable at this school. I came from a private school.”

We are happy to hear that our students feel welcomed, supported, and excited about the year ahead. We look forward to watching them learn, grow, and make wonderful memories! 🐺📚✨

Our 8th grade scientists learned how to write a strong CER — Claim, Evidence, and Reasoning! Instead of just saying “because I think so,” students practiced making a claim, supporting it with evidence, and explaining their reasoning.

Then we put those skills to the test with a little friendly debate over some VERY “controversial” questions!

🌮 Is a taco a sandwich, salad, or its own category?
🥣 Is cereal a soup?
🌭 Is a hot dog a sandwich?
🍍 Does pineapple belong on pizza?
🍪 Is an Oreo a cookie or a sandwich?
💧 Is water wet?
🍅 Is ketchup a smoothie?
🦆 One horse-sized duck or 100 duck-sized horses?!

There were definitely some STRONG opinions in the room! But most importantly, our Wolves learned that in science, your answer is only as strong as the evidence and reasoning you use to support it!

7th grade science worked on Team building and communication skills. Students had to build a variety of structures using cups. The only item that could touch the cups was the rubber band.

The objective was to use verbal and non verbal communication skills to stack cups in a variety of ways. Sometimes using one hand, sometimes using 2 hands to pull on a string attached to the rubber band.

These students worked through frustrations of working with a variety of personalities and MASTERED the final challenge of creating a cup tower!
