The mikeroweWORKS Foundation Work Ethic Scholarship is officially open to apply!

🐴⭐ Welcome & Congratulations, Re*****on! ⭐🐴

We’re excited to officially welcome Re*****on to Five Star Horseshoeing School as an Instructor and celebrate his six-month anniversary with us! In this role, Re*****on will be working hands-on with our students while also offering clinics throughout the year, sharing his knowledge and experience with farriers at all stages of their careers.

Re*****on graduated from horseshoeing school in 2011 and immediately immersed himself in every aspect of the trade. After apprenticing and running his own business in Northern Kentucky, he took an opportunity with the Podiatry Department at Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital in Lexington, KY. While competing in local horseshoeing contests, he also developed a strong appreciation for new modalities in therapeutic shoeing.

A dedicated member of the American Farriers Association, Re*****on achieved his CF in 2013, CJF in 2014, and most recently earned the new CRP certification in summer 2025—passing all portions on the first attempt. At the 2015 AFA Convention, he was awarded the High Point score for the CJF written exam. Since graduating college in 2009, Re*****on has continuously sought new avenues of learning, from serving as an AFA Certification Tester to now giving back as an instructor at Five Star.

Outside the forge, Re*****on and his wife Lindsey compete in ranch versatility events with their mare, Dolly. In summer 2025, Re*****on and Dolly earned the Overall Rookie Amateur World Championship at the AQHA Versatility Ranch Horse World Show in Amarillo, TX.

Re*****on is truly immersed in all aspects of the equine industry, and his passion for the horse drives everything he does. We’re proud to have him as part of the Five Star team and look forward to the impact he’ll continue to make with our students and clinics.

Dusty Franklin will do a demo on a horse at the WCB Winter Clinic. What do you see? What do I see? What does anybody see when it comes to trimming and shoeing a horse? Dusty's down to earth approach to anatomy and form to function approach on farriery is timeless and always an eye opener. Nothing better than having a horse right there in front of you and having an open mic conversation about what we do everyday. The Web Winter Clinic will be January 15th through the 17th in Amarillo, Texas. WellShod is hosting the event and it is perfect for everything we need; The competition trailer set up to forge the whole time, plenty of room for vendors to set up out of the cold and show their wares, and a wonderful presentation area that has a brand new sound system for us deaf folks. A lot of people wouldn't think so but Amarillo is bonafide cosmopolitan with wonderful places to get fine dining, not just calf fries. All this for the low, low, price of nothing if your a WCB member.
