This week, we’re celebrating our amazing cafeteria team and all the hard work they do to keep our Panthers fueled and ready to learn! 💚💛

From preparing meals to serving our students with care, we appreciate everything they do to make lunchtime a special part of our day. Let’s show our cafeteria staff some extra love and thank them for all they do! 🐾

The Millage renewal invests directly in the educators who serve Brevard students every day. This is not a new tax.
80% of Millage funding supports employee compensation, including additional pay for instructional personnel based on their years of teaching experience and performance.
At Pinewood Elementary School, Ms. Halloran brings 22 years of teaching experience to the classroom. Ms. Halloran enriches the Pinewood community through her passion for fine arts, bringing students and families together through music, art, parades, PBIS initiatives, music concerts, and art camps, while also serving as our dedicated BFT representative. Their experience helps provide students with strong instruction, consistency, and support year after year.
By recognizing the value of experience, Millage-funded compensation increases over time to reward educators for their years of service and dedication to their profession. This investment encourages experienced teachers to continue building their careers in Brevard Public Schools, benefiting both students and school communities.

The Sales Surtax renewal is paid for by everyone who shops in Brevard and funds major improvements to our school facilities. This is not a new tax.
Sales Surtax funding allows Brevard Public Schools to complete essential projects that keep campuses safe, comfortable, and ready to serve students for years to come.
At Pinewood Elementary School, Sales Surtax funding made covered walkways to portables possible. The new covered walkways to our portable classrooms provide students and staff with safe, sheltered access during rain, extreme heat, and other inclement weather, improving comfort and safety throughout the school day.
From updated air-conditioning systems and new roofs to renovated classrooms, playgrounds, tracks, and safety improvements, these investments help ensure our school buildings continue meeting the needs of students and staff.

🥐 Why were there 100 mini croissants in the library last week?! 🥐📚
Well… our Kindergarten and 1st grade Panthers had a very delicious reason! ❤️
We read Peckish by Gabby Comelleri, a charming story about Louie LaVie, a pigeon who lives in Paris—the land of endless croissants! 🥐 The only problem? Louie desperately wants a delicious croissant of his very own, but getting his wings on one turns out to be quite the adventure!
After enjoying Louie’s story, our students got to have a little taste of Paris right here in the library!📖
Our Kindergarteners and 1st graders enjoyed their own mini croissants with butter and jam, and let me just say… they were a HUGE hit! 😋🥐
There’s nothing quite like bringing a book to life—and when you can add a tasty treat, even better! ❤️📚Bon appétit, little readers! 🥐

📚☕️ Welcome to the Pinewood Library Café! ☕️📚
Our 2nd graders had a deliciously good time at our Book Tasting last week! 📖✨
The library was transformed into a café, and students rotated from table to table, sampling different genres of chapter books. Each table offered a new reading “flavor” for students to discover! 🍽️📚
As they explored, students learned how to:
📖 Read the synopsis on the book cover to get an idea of what the story is about
🔎 Look for books that match their interests
⭐️ Decide whether a book is one they’d like to read in the future
📝 Record their “must-read” choices on their personalized menu
The best part? Their menus became ready-made reading lists! When students return to the library for their next book checkout, they already have books they’re excited to find and read. 🙌📚
Book Tasting is all about helping students discover new genres, build confidence in choosing books, and develop a love of reading through choice and exploration. ❤️
I’d say our 2nd graders left with full hearts, happy readers, some very hungry-to-read minds, and a little “to go” box filled with a few special treats to enjoy! 🍪📦📚✨
