Sometimes, student ideas can drive their administrator up a wall…literally. That’s why this post from April comes in at #2 of our top posts of the 2025-26 school year. Perhaps Milwaukie High School Assistant Principal Greg Neuman now regrets challenging MHS students last April to bring in an ambitious number of donations for the school’s annual Milwaukie Cares Week. Students easily surpassed the goal and taught their AP to never doubt them again by duct-taping him to the gym wall! How he got back down remains a mystery!

Our summer countdown continues of our top posts of the 2025-26 school year…and when it comes to NCSD showing up in social media feeds across the nation, it helps to have a national celebrity visit the Sabin-Schellenberg Center. Celebrity Chef Jonathan Zaragoza has appeared in Netflix's Taco Chronicles, and you may know his family restaurant from FX Networks The Bear. Thanks to a partnership with our district’s Nutrition Services Department, he chopped it up with our SSC Culinary students while whipping up some spicy salsa. This April post gathered likes from all over the country and is still being talked about as a highlight of the year for many high schoolers.

As the school year draws closer, we're taking another trip down memory lane this week. We ❤️ hearing all your heartwarming stories!

As the summer continues, so does our countdown of our favorite posts of the 2025-26 school year. When this story posted in January, we lovingly referred to it as “Making Swishes Come True.” That’s because our district’s Unified Basketball matchups really do make wishes come true for students with intellectual disabilities from Milwaukie High School, Rex Putnam High School, Clackamas High School, and Adrienne C. Nelson High School. Many of the student-athletes say they never believed they’d be a part of a team, let alone hear the roar from bleachers packed with classmates, staff, and family members cheering them on. This post drew attention from across the country, and we can’t wait for Unified Soccer to kick off this fall!

Now that the calendar has now rolled into August, our countdown of top posts of the 2025-26 school year continues rolling right along. Football fandom was at a fever pitch last November when Milwaukie High School's football team qualified for the OSAA 5A state football playoffs, giving students and staff a chance to send their home team off to their opening round matchup with a schoolwide parade. The post's photos and video gathered likes and shares from hundreds of current and former Mustangs, proud to cheer on their beloved maroon and gold!

What a fun way to wrap up Summer Literacy Camp at Milwaukie El Puente Elementary School! These incoming K-5th graders from all across the district received targeted reading instruction the past four weeks that will have them arriving this fall with extra confidence. Thanks to The FLIP Museum for bringing their hands-on activities for students and staff to enjoy while celebrating their accomplishments, and big thanks to all our NCSD staff who worked throughout the summer months on behalf of our students!
