✨🫧The Magic of Bubbles🫧✨
Want to get a fussy child’s attention? Bubbles! Want to practice body part recognition, eye contact or turn taking? Bubbles! But did you know that bubble blowing can also help with speech?
Not only is blowing strengthening the abdominal muscles which helps with sentence length but it’s a great activity to target other oral motor or mouth skills. Blowing exercises increase strength in the tongue for producing the sounds at the back of our mouth like consonants K and G. It’s also good for working on lip rounding which is necessary for the consonant sound W and the vowels ‘oo’ and ‘oh.’ A few of these guys were using more of a flat lip posture so we practiced blowing out of a wide straw first and then tried the bubble wand. If this is still difficult or frustrating for your child, blowing their friends bubbles that are already in the air is still great practice and a lot of fun 🫧
