MSOE W9HHX Radio Club

Attention all SSTV aficionados! We're excited to announce that a new net is coming to the Milwaukee area on the MSOE 145.27MHz repeater: The Monthly Slow-Scan Television Net!

This net aims to increase exposure to slow-scan television by allowing widely available 2-meter FM equipment to transmit and receive beyond the typical repeater voice QSO. Technician-class licensees are typically restricted from the mode due to it being most common on HF voice bands not available to their license class. Opening up the repeater to SSTV allows both newer and experienced operators to practice using the mode in a structured environment. Most importantly, SSTV is fun!

Hams that are new to sound cards modes need not be dismayed, as it is possible to send SSTV with setups as simple as a handheld transceiver with free software and inexpensive adapter cables. (You can even use acoustic coupling in a pinch!)

The first net is set to take place on Sunday, May 3rd at 7PM Central. Mark your calendars and we hope to see you there!
