As a part of determining eligibility for participation in spring "Discover America" trips, scholars who are on track for a successful year earn Passport Points for fun events and activities. We are happy scholars can engage in fellowship and get out of their comfort zone inside and outside St. Marcus classrooms! 🌊🏐
The Main Campus K4 and K5 scholars invited grandparents and special adults to join them in their classrooms and chapel today. What a special way to engage families in the St. Marcus experience and demonstrate our education firsthand!
Scholars at the Harambee Campus signed a steel beam that will be placed in the new east entryway. Thank you to Catalyst Construction and RAMLOW/STEIN Architecture +Interiors for facilitating this special moment!
It has been 21 years since the tragic 9/11 attacks on our nation. May we never forget the lives and memories of those who perished, but may we also continue to look forward and build a nation of peace, love, and justice. Always remember, never forget. 🇺🇸❤️
Main Campus scholars visited Milwaukee Fire Department Engine 21 yesterday to remember the 21st anniversary of the 9/11 attacks and express gratitude to first responders in our city. Though these scholars were not yet born at the time of the attack, the ramifications and fallout of that day remain potent in their lives and the lives of every American. We hope these scholars use their education at St. Marcus as an instrument of peace for the benefit of our city, state, nation, and world. 🚒🇺🇸
Thanks to Sommers Subaru's partnership with AdoptAClassroom.org, Harambee teachers received school supply kits for their brand new classrooms! ❤️✂️🖍📚✏️

Thank you to Kohl's for donating school supplies to teachers so they are set up for success this school year! We can't expect teachers to set scholars up for success without having the resources and tools necessary to manage an entire classroom of the city's future leaders. Parents also received supplies so they can support their scholars' academic endeavors. We ❤️ our partners! ✏️📓🎒
Milwaukee has so many great festivals that celebrate the neighborhoods and communities that make our city great. To celebrate Bronzeville, the community just west of the Main Campus, St. Marcus is hosting a booth at the Bronzeville Week Cultural & Arts Festival this Sunday, Aug. 7. Welcome back, St. Marcus staff! While summer vacation continues for scholars, staff reconvened at St. Marcus this week to prepare for the upcoming school year. School leaders gave motivating presentations, welcomed over 40 new faculty members, and celebrated employees to wrap up summer and head into another amazing year! We are so excited to welcome scholars back to St. Marcus soon! 👏
The work and learning doesn't stop for St. Marcus staff just because it's summer! ☀️🤓 Four St. Marcus educators (pictured) attended the Standards Institute in California and one in Florida this summer to learn about committing to adaptive change within themselves while enhancing instructional practices, and Nurse Jayne (in yellow) attended the National Association of School Nurses annual conference in Atlanta. We are glad these dedicated employees attended these immersive experiences!

St. Marcus staff, church members, and scholars hosted a booth at the 51st Annual Juneteenth Day celebration this past weekend. We are so grateful to be part of a storied event in Milwaukee that celebrates the emancipation of Black Americans and honor those who fought for this nation to live up to its founding ideals of liberty and equality for all.
Today, , we celebrate the end of slavery in the United States. On June 19, 1865, Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, the last state of the Confederacy with institutional slavery, and told the enslaved people that they were free and shared the news that the Civil War was over. We reflect on the atrocities and inequalities that Black Americans have faced throughout history, celebrate freedom from slavery, and fight for a future of equality, justice, and equity.
Happy to all the dads, grandfathers, uncles, and guardians who are in the lives of St. Marcus scholars! Your support for your scholar's education makes all the difference. Happy Father's Day to the fathers who are a part of St. Marcus faculty and staff as well!

Our hearts break at the tragic news out of Uvalde, Texas. 21 lives - 19 children and two teachers - lost to violence. Across the country, students deserve to learn and educators deserve to teach without fear. 💔
Lord Jesus, there is so much evil in this world. Once again, senseless violence has taken multiple lives – both children and adults. With heavy hearts, we your children come to you asking for your tender care to attend to the needs of so many. Comfort those families whose lives have been devastated and disrupted by death. Bring healing to the injured. Help those who are dealing with images they can never unsee. We thank you, Lord, for the brave public servants who rushed toward the danger, brought the carnage to an end, and cared for the injured. Above all, as we struggle with our questions and confusion, use this, dear Father, to draw us, your children, ever closer to you. We commit all who are suffering to your care, confident of your promises, assured of your presence, and surrounded by your love. Come quickly, Lord Jesus, in your power, in your grace, and in your mercy. Amen.
Scholars with bubbles and noisemakers lined the halls of the North Campus this morning to celebrate the first 8th grade class to graduate from the campus. What a memorable way to honor these hardworking scholars and kick off the last week of school! 🎉🎓

The first graders at the Main Campus watched the metamorphosis of butterflies in real-time for a recent science lesson. We can't wait to see how these scholars transform, much like these butterflies that started as caterpillars and cocoons, during their time at St. Marcus! 🦋
We love when St. Marcus employees use their time and talent to serve others! Check out what St. Marcus speech pathologist Rebecca did in Malawi!
Many of our volunteer opportunities at Kingdom Workers are local, but occasionally our mission programs work with visiting volunteers.
Last week our Disability Care program in Malawi welcomed three visiting volunteers with backgrounds in the medical field.
Here’s what Liana Tyrrell, Malawi Field Manager, shared, “These are our skilled volunteers who are helping Davie and Hamilton teach our home-based care volunteers. From left to right they are Kara, Sibusiso, and Rebecca. Kara and Rebecca are Speech Language Pathologists from Wisconsin and Sibusiso is a Rehab Tech from Malawi. Kara and Rebecca have been focusing on teaching feeding techniques and positioning for children who may struggle with chewing and swallowing.”
Thank you for volunteering your skills to serve Kara, Sibusiso, and Rebecca!
The summer reading season is about to start! The mobile reading and literacy program Home Libraries 4 Kids, a dedicated partner with St. Marcus, visited the North and Harambee campuses last week and the Main Campus this week to encourage kids to build their own home libraries with free books from the program. Thank you to the team at HL4K for dedicating their time and resources to ensuring kids have access to great reads! 📖
