St. Joseph Academy

St. Joseph Academy offers high quality programming for children six weeks of age to 8th grade.

Our school’s sponsoring organization, the Felician Sisters, has been a champion of compassionate care in the Milwaukee community since 1907. In the early years, the Sisters offered their services through an orphanage created to provide a home for children whose parents were deceased or needed childcare while their parents worked. Over time, our services have grown and expanded to meet the changing

needs of our families. In the 1960s, in response to the increasing number of working families in our area, the Sisters received a license to operate a daycare center. In 1999 we moved to our current site and expanded our service offerings to include infants. Today, we provide care and education for children from the age of six weeks through sixth grade. Our mission is to educate children to be successful, lifelong learners and problem solvers. As always, we are in tune with and responsive to the needs of our community and pleased to be your continued partner in providing exceptional care for your children.

☔️🌧️ **Rain, Rain, Go Away!** 🌧️☔️

What a PERFECT day to learn **“Rain, Rain, Go Away!”** especially with today’s rainy weather! 🌧️☔️💙

Our K5 friends are having FUN while learning through nursery rhymes! 📚🎶 Over the next several days, our students will be learning and reciting some of their favorite nursery rhymes while building important early literacy skills along the way.

This week, **Mrs. Buenning’s K5 class** had a splash of fun with the classic nursery rhyme **“Rain, Rain, Go Away!”** 🌈

Nursery rhymes help children develop an awareness of **sounds, rhythm, language, and vocabulary** all important building blocks that help our little learners become stronger readers and writers! 📖✏️

And of course, learning is even more fun when we can get creative! 🎨💦 Our students enjoyed using their fingers to paint **vertical lines like falling rain** while bringing the rhyme to life. ☔️🖌️

We love watching our K5 students **learn, create, explore, and grow!** 🌟

💙💛 What a GREAT first week at SJA! 💛💙

We officially kicked off another school year, and what a wonderful start it has been! From welcoming our youngest learners to seeing our older students back in the halls, there has been so much excitement, energy, and joy throughout our school community. 📚✨

To wrap up the week, our students gathered outdoors for a little celebration filled with bubbles, icy pops, music, and plenty of smiles! 🫧🍧🎶 It was the perfect way to celebrate being back together and remind ourselves that school is about so much more than learning it’s about community, friendship, belonging, and making memories together.

A BIG thank-you to our amazing teachers and staff for the love, dedication, and energy you bring to SJA each day. We are off to a GREAT start, and we couldn’t be more excited for what this school year will bring! 🙌💙💛

🕷️🕸️ Happy Friday from our Kid Quest superheroes! ❤️💙

Our students showed up in their Spider-Man gear today completely unplanned! What perfect timing, since the new Spider-Man movie is being released today! Their Spidey senses must have been tingling! 🦸🏽‍♂️✨

🌱🥕 Our KidQuest campers had a garden-to-table adventure today!

They harvested cherry tomatoes, radishes, green beans, broccoli, zucchini, dill, oregano, basil, and parsley. Along the way, campers learned how different vegetables and herbs grow, how to harvest them properly, and why washing produce before eating is important.

They also practiced teamwork, sharing, taking turns, and trying new foods! The crowd favorites were cherry tomatoes and dill. 🍅🌿

What a wonderful hands-on opportunity to learn how food grows while enjoying a fresh and healthy feast. We can’t wait to see what they discover in the garden next week! 💚
