The MSOE Student Music Organization (SMO) is a student-led organization that contains multiple musical groups.
These groups include a symphony orchestra, string ensemble, jazz ensemble, choir, men's choir, and women's choir. We are one of the largest student organizations on campus, and we put on two major concerts a year.

It's Time for Elections!!
If you are or know someone who loves SMO and wants to be a bigger part of the organization your time is now!
We are accepting nominations for Executive Board Members as well as Group Chairpeople that will take effect starting Spring Quarter.
Nominations should be sent to Dr. Walter Schilling at [email protected]. Please include "SMO E-Board/Chairperson Nomination" in the subject line.
Below is a list of some of the things the Executive Board does:
1. Authorizes the expenditures for music and other equipment.
2. Collects membership dues from the chairpeople.
3. Plans and organizes events.
4. Makes decisions about the storage of equipment.
5. Any undefined administrative responsibilities that facilitate the regular functions of SMO.
Chairpeople will also be elected at this time. Below is a description and a list of responsibilities of the chairpeople.
1. Representation of their respective groups.
2. Bring the concerns of their respective groups to the executive board.
3. May attend executive board meetings.
4. Are encouraged to attend SGA funding hearings.
5. Reserving rooms for rehearsals

Did you miss the information meeting today? Not a problem. Here's the handout, and if there are any questions feel free to comment or email anyone on the list!
Do you like to sing or play an instrument? If so, come to the MSOE Student Music Organization's informational meeting TOMORROW at 1 PM in the CC 2nd floor back lounge (all the way down the hallway) to learn about the organization as a whole and the six groups that are part of it.
MSOE Student Music Organization The MSOE Student Music Organization (SMO) is a student-led organization that contains multiple musical groups. These groups include a symphony orchestra, string ensemble, jazz ensemble, choir, men's choir, and women's choir.
Since its August and a new batch of Freshmen are coming in, here's some information one of the largest organizations on campus!
1. We have 6 groups: Jazz Band, String Ensemble, Concert Band (or Symphony Orchestra depending on instrument availability), Combined Choir, Women's Choir, and Men's Choir
2. Each group meets once a week for about an hour. (Days and times can change depending on group availability)
3. We have 2 concerts a year, with social events in between
4. It's a great way to unwind from all the math and science.
You totally have time for it.
