Have you purchased your tickets yet for the German Immersion Foundation Spring Gala?

This year's Spring Gala has a Kentucky Derby theme, so pick up a fancy hat and buy your tickets for the event on May 3rd.

Full festivities start at 4pm with dinner served at 6pm -- tickets are $80. If you would rather just come for the auction and entertainment, you are welcome to join at 7pm for just $45.

There will be a full-size Plinko-style game providing some good-natured horse-race competition, Big Spoon will be playing for us again this year, and, as always, a silent auction and raffles, plus cash bar and, most of all, fun!

While the GIF's mission is to support the German Language programming at MGIS and MSL, the event is open to anyone, so bring your friends to fill up a table and enjoy the night.

Congratulations to the winners of our 3-5th grade spelling bee! Be sure to watch our winners this Saturday, April 12 at the MPS Spelling Bee Finals!

The competition starts at 9 a.m., and you can watch it live on the TMJ4 News website. Be sure to cheer on our students as they show off their amazing spelling skills!

One of my favorite things in life has always been connecting with young people—and I always hope I inspire them as much as they inspire me.

I had a great time at Milwaukee German Immersion School with County Executive David Crowley, talking with some bright young minds about City and County government, our roles, and our paths to public service.

It’s incredible to see curiosity and leadership already shining so early. These moments remind me why the work matters and I always walk away encouraged that our future is in great hands.

Happy National Assistant Principal Week to our assistant principal, Frau Holdmann! Thank you for always being there for our students!

On Friday afternoon (April 4), we were honored to welcome County Executive David Crowley and Alderman Lamont Westmoreland to MGIS! These distinguished leaders engaged with our students, sharing insights into the differences between city and county government, as well as the unique responsibilities each of their roles entails.

Our students asked very thoughtful and insightful questions of both leaders, creating a meaningful and engaging dialogue with both the County Executive and the Alderman.

Thank you, County Executive Crowley and Alderman Westmoreland, for visiting MGIS! We truly enjoyed your visit and hope to welcome you back again soon.

Now Boarding: Flight 18 to Germany!

This morning, Frau Heck’s K4 class took off on an imaginative adventure to wrap up their unit on Germany! Students “boarded” Flight 18 right in their classroom, complete with a safety demonstration by Frau Heck and Frau Weber. Their journey included a stop at the office, where they received a stamp in their passport!

Along the way, the kids got to see photos of famous German landmarks and sights, bringing the experience to life.

Everyone had a fantastic time and landed safely—just in time for recess!

Happy Paraprofessional Appreciation Day!

We are incredibly grateful for our amazing paraprofessionals and the invaluable support they provide both in and out of the classroom. From assisting teachers with instruction to supervising recess and lunch, they truly do it all! Our school wouldn’t be the same without them, and we deeply appreciate their hard work and dedication. Happy School Library Month!

Did you know that the MGIS school library has one of the largest number of German language children's books in North America? Our students have a plethora of English and German books to choose from every time they visit Frau Malek!

We need to let them learn something new, explore different worlds, and discover something about themselves.

Spring Break is almost here! Spring break is from Friday, March 21, through Friday, March 28.

We hope our students enjoy a fun, relaxing, and safe break! Take time to recharge, explore, and make wonderful memories with family and friends.
