Great article about a UWM student coming full circle and completing an internship at an awesome organization he was a part of when he was a young adult, Islands of Brilliance (IOB). The mission of IOB is a learning experience developed specifically for children and young adults on the autism spectrum.
Islands of Brilliance is rooted in art, design, and STEAM-based curriculum, helps children and young adults learn valuable technical skills, while practicing critical social and emotional learning competencies in a supported environment. Love this and hope to see more and more organizations and opportunities out there that support individuals who identify with a disability!
Intern returns to help organization that helped him
When he was younger, Giovanni Claudio participated in Islands of Brilliance, which that works with people who are on the autism spectrum or neurodiverse. As a UWM student, he worked with the program again, this time helping them with IT.
