Yesterday our entire school community gathered at Saint Vincent Pallotti for a special all-school Mass and the installation of Tom Mlada as the fourth President of Pius XI Catholic High School.

We were honored to welcome Archbishop Jeffrey Grob as our celebrant, joined by Fr. Phillip Bogacki ’99, Fr. John Baumgardner ’08, Fr. Jerry Herda, Fr. Mike Ignaszak ’76, and Fr. Joseph Heit. Together with our students, faculty, staff, and members of our greater community, we gathered for the Mass of the Holy Spirit, giving thanks for our Pius XI community and praying for the Holy Spirit’s guidance, wisdom, and blessings throughout the year ahead.

The installation of a new president is an important moment in the life of a Catholic school—a moment that we marked with symbols representing Pius XI's rich history and tradition, as well as its vibrant future. Today was both a celebration of new leadership and a powerful reminder of the mission that unites us: forming young people in faith, knowledge, character, and service to others.

As Tom Mlada begins his service as President, we pray that God grants him wisdom, courage, and grace as he leads our school community into its next chapter.

Please join us in congratulating President Tom Mlada and praying for him, our students, and our entire school community.

May God continue to bless our school and the mission we share.

President Tom Mlada becomes Pius XI Catholic High School's fourth president during special celebratory Mass presided over by Archbishop Jeffrey Grob.

Yesterday, President Tom Mlada and Alumni Director Dan Carey '00 paid a visit to our wonderful friends at Saint Sebastian Catholic School to celebrate the start of the new school year! We also bumped into two Pius XI Popes: Katie Golomski '11 is a school counselor and also serves as the assistant athletic director and basketball coach, and Molly (Schwab) Holsen '92 (known as "Mindful Molly") works with students and staff on mindfulness throughout the year.

A big thank you to their terrific principal Katie Immen for the opportunity to provide lunch for the hard-working teachers and staff on their first day of school. We love our partnership with St. Sebs!

And we’re back!

On Monday our halls and classrooms came to life as we welcomed all of our Pius XI Popes for the first day of classes!

There’s something special about the first day—the energy, the reunions, the new connections, and the excitement of a fresh start. Whether it’s a student’s first year with us or their final year before graduation, this marks the beginning of another year of learning, growth, and discovery.

As a Catholic school community, our mission extends beyond academic excellence. We are called to educate the whole person: mind, body, and spirit, and to help each student deepen their faith, strengthen their character, discover their God-given gifts, and learn to use those gifts in service to others.

We are grateful for our faculty and staff who embrace this mission each day and for the families who entrust their students to our care.

To our students: we’re glad you’re here. May God bless you and guide you throughout the year ahead! 🙏💙
To the Class of 2027: we are cheering you on every step of the way and are so proud of each and every one of you!

We are ready to roll into the 2026-27 School Year!

Thanks to the incredible generosity of alumnus Tim Hanley ’57, our students have a brand-new bus to get them where they need to go! After plenty of adventures with our old bus—often involving repairs, breakdowns, and a little too much uncertainty—we are especially grateful to have a safe and reliable new ride.

This generous gift was made by Tim '57 in loving memory of his late wife, Diane ’59, making it an especially meaningful addition to our school community.

Following Mass today, Fr. Phillip Bogacki ’99 gave our new bus a special blessing before it begins carrying the next generation of students on field trips, athletic competitions, and many adventures ahead.

To Tim, we offer our heartfelt gratitude for this extraordinary gift and for honoring Diane’s memory in a way that will serve our students for years to come. ❤️

May God bless the entire Hanley Family and may He bless this bus with many safe miles and wonderful memories!
