GM 10L1000: HARSH GARAGE SHIFTS

A 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 with the 6.6L Turbo Diesel and 10L1000 transmission came in with extremely harsh garage shifts.

A line pressure check revealed spikes exceeding 400 PSI.

Teardown uncovered a broken channel wall in the upper valve body and severe wear in the pressure regulator valve, creating an unregulated line pressure condition that could lead to serious internal damage.

🚨 ATSG Confirmed Fix: GM 8L90 Reverse in All Gear Shift Positions 🚨

A 2018 GMC Savanna Box Truck equipped with the GM 8L90 transmission presented with an unusual complaint: reverse movement in every gear position, with no diagnostic trouble codes stored in any module.

🔍 The Internal Mode Switch (IMS) did not range correctly, making it the logical starting point. However, replacing the IMS did not resolve the condition.

Further inspection uncovered the true root cause, highlighting why it's critical to look beyond the obvious when diagnosing complex transmission concerns.
