Today’s Alumni Visit Day brought graduates back to the halls where it all began. They reconnected with teachers, explored new additions, and shared stories from their time on campus. The memories may be years old, but the Wildcat spirit is as strong as ever.

Continuing our celebration of Women and Girls in Science, we feature Urshula Edwards ’06.

Urshula Edwards ’06 works with Doctors Without Borders. In addition to serving on the organization’s Board of Directors in the United States, her work in logistics and supply chain has taken her to 18 countries around the world. She has ensured the availability and transportation of materials to construct a hospital in Sierra Leone; worked with teams in Gaza to improve supply chain processes and implement new software; designed and built a warehouse in Haiti to support projects throughout the country; supported underserved communities in the United States during COVID; and designed systems to ensure the safe transportation and storage of medications in remote villages in Sudan.

Continuing our celebration of Women and Girls in Science, we feature Emme Wiederhold ’16.

Emme Wiederhold ’16 is a Software Developer and Systems Engineer at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California. She spends most of her time supporting the Mars Science Laboratory Curiosity Rover mission, serving as both an Operations Systems Engineer and the lead for Engineering Tools. She has also contributed to Perseverance, Europa Clipper, ICESat-2, technology research projects, and other software initiatives during her time at JPL. As a woman in STEM at NASA, she finds inspiration in the shared goal of advancing humanity’s understanding of the universe — and our place within it.

In celebration of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, we feature Dr. Louella Amos '95.

Dr. Amos is a Professor of Pediatrics at the Medical College of Wisconsin and a pediatric pulmonologist and sleep physician at Children’s Wisconsin. Over the past 15 years, she has built a strong record of community engagement and advocacy focused on adolescent health. She was part of the Children’s Wisconsin team that brought national attention to the 2019 EVALI (e-cigarette or va**ng-associated lung injury) outbreak, which reshaped public understanding of va**ng-related harm, and she continues to deliver local, regional, and national presentations on the pediatric va**ng epidemic.

Dr. Amos is also a passionate advocate for healthy sleep in adolescents. Drawing on research in sleep medicine and adolescent circadian biology, she partners with middle and high schools to help align start times with teen sleep physiology — increasing sleep duration, improving academic performance, and supporting emotional well-being.
