UWM Center Student Experience and Talent

As part of the Inauguration Week festivities for Chancellor Thomas Gibson, UWM is partnering with Hartford Avenue School and Lloyd Barbee School in a community-wide book drive to support literacy and a love of reading among local K-8 students. Our goal is to collect 300 books by September 25.

Please consider stopping by our local booksellers, and purchase a book to donate suitable for K-8 readers. Books can be purchased and donated through:
- Boswell Book Company, 2559 N. Downer Ave., Milwaukee, WI 53211
- Wonderland Bookshop, 4001 N. Downer Ave., Shorewood, WI 53211

You may also drop off books at the Center for Student Experience and Talent (SET), Student Union E153, located across from the Panther Store.

If you would like to involve your own child in this service project, Wonderland Bookshop has blank bookmarks for this effort and a coloring table. Children can write a note or draw a picture to include with a donated book, creating a special connection with the recipient. At Boswell Book they are offering 20% off any book purchased for the drive.

The photos are great, but the captions tell the story of our students starting early in their college career to get the right experiences through networking and internships in their first, second, and third years as undergrads. It's been a busy week here at SET! Our Student Assessment and Research Committee (SARC) had their second meeting of the semester and working to have student's voices heard and influence the future of SET!

And last night we were lucky to have friends from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Milwaukee come for an info session - pizza was just a bonus 😁
