The Society for Technology in Anesthesia will be having a FREE open meeting for interested attendees immediately following the conclusion of the IARS sessions, starting at 1:30 PM on Sunday. We will be meeting at Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about STA and meet with STA members. We will also have a coding bootcamp where attendees can learn the basics of coding in python-- one of the most common languages used in machine learning and artificial intelligence. No prior coding experience necessary!

Dr. Caruso is a Clinical Professor of Pediatric Anesthesiology at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford. He holds a BS in biochemistry from the University of Virginia, a master’s degree in medical education from Johns Hopkins University, and a MD and PhD in education from Stanford University. He is the Program Director of the Pediatric Anesthesiology Fellowship and an avid Pediatric Regional Anesthesiologist. He is also the co-founder and co-Director of the Stanford Chariot Program, which aims to reduce pediatric patients’ anxiety and pain by utilizing immersive technologies, including augmented and virtual reality. He has published and presented widely on the use of immersive technologies in healthcare settings.

Dr Tim Craft is a senior anaesthetist in the UK who has also worked as an attending anesthesiologist in the US. He has held executive leadership roles on the Board of his hospital and has been the director of Research and Development. His is an author and editor of several books and multiple peer reviewed publications.

Tim left clinical practise to create Somnus Scientific Limited, a multi-award winning, research-driven company established to meet a recognised unmet need in global healthcare; point-of-care real-time blood propofol concentration monitoring in patients receiving propofol for either sedation or general anaesthesia.

Dr. Julia Gálvez Delgado, a faculty member at Boston Children’s Hospital, is a leader in pediatric perioperative care, merging machine learning and clinical informatics to enhance patient outcomes. With a background from Yale School of Medicine and Oregon Health & Science University, she has advanced clinical decision-making systems and research across institutions, including her pioneering work at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia to establish the Biomedical Informatics Program in Pediatric Anesthesiology. Known for her collaborative approach, Dr. Gálvez Delgado helped launch the internationally used Pedi Crisis app and has influenced global standards in pediatric airway management through multicenter trials. Her advocacy for healthcare equity drives her work with the Perioperative Anesthesia Registry for Transgender Adults and Youths, while her dedication to mentorship shapes the careers of future healthcare leaders.
