On April 13th, 2020, our school community had a devastating loss when Olga Obando, a very important member of the Morgandale family passed away. This was a sudden loss to our community that no one was expecting or ready for. With everything going on in the world we were not able to pay tribute to the life she lived and the legacy she left behind.
As a nurturing mother and proud employee of Morgandale Elementary school for almost 30 years, she exemplified being a loving, caring, extraordinary woman who provided a safe haven to her students. She had many roles in the school building. Her title was paraprofessional, but her role was very vast. She was a "nurse" helping students with scrapes, band-aids, and when they were not feeling well. She was a teachers’ aide assisting students in the learning environment with reading, writing, math, fine motor skills, and social interactions. Olga was always there if you needed her from a listening ear, a hug, coverage for a bathroom break, a friendly hello, or a gentle smile. Olga was always a positive inspiration
in the building, she was not a woman to say no and was always willing to help in any way possible. She was always actively participating in the community and helping others whenever possible. Olga was a woman that showed her love to so many by her words and her actions. She has touched the hearts of many and will never be forgotten
To create a memorial on our school playground we hope to plant a brilliant new Celebration Maple tree in her honor. This will be a beautiful spot for students, staff, and other visitors to take a break to enjoy nature, shade, and possibly even read a good book to relax. We also hope to install an inscribed bench made to remember her. The attractive and useful bench will be placed within our tot lot on the playground. The tot lot was one of her favorite places to be during the school day watching students play together and giggle.
Our goal is to have this memorial complete either by the end of this school year or just before the start of the Fall 2021 school year. When the memorial is complete, we will hold a social distancing unveiling in person and virtually for family, staff, students, and community members. The funds will be handled by the school administration and the Sunshine club. If we raise extra funds, we will use those extra funds to purchase mulch and plant flowers around the school to help maintain the environmental space Olga loved so much as well as a donation to her family.

El 13 de abril de 2020 nuestra comunidad escolar tuvo una pérdida devastadora cuando falleció Olga Obando, un miembro muy importante de la familia de la escuela Morgandale. Esta fue una pérdida repentina para nuestra comunidad que nadie esperaba ni estaban preparados. Con todo lo que sucedía en el mundo, no pudimos rendir homenaje a la vida que vivió y al legado que dejó.
Como madre cariñosa y orgullosa empleada de la escuela primaria Morgandale durante casi 30 años, fue un ejemplo de ser una mujer extraordinaria, cariñosa y cariñosa que proporcionó un refugio seguro a sus estudiantes. Tuvo muchas tareas en el edificio de la escuela. Su título era asistente de maestros, pero su papel era muy amplio. Ella era una "enfermera" que ayudaba a los estudiantes con raspaduras, tiritas y cuando no se sentían bien. Fue asistente de maestro's que ayudó a los estudiantes en el entorno de aprendizaje con lectura, escritura, matemáticas, habilidades motoras finas e interacciones sociales. Olga siempre estuvo ahí si la necesitabas de un oído atento, un abrazo, cobertura para ir al baño, un saludo amistoso o una sonrisa amable. Olga siempre fue una inspiración positiva en el edificio, ella no era una mujer para decir que no y siempre estaba dispuesta a ayudar de cualquier manera posible. Siempre participaba activamente en la comunidad y ayudaba a los demás siempre que era posible. Olga fue una mujer que mostró su amor a tantos con sus palabras y sus acciones. Ella ha tocado los corazones de muchos y nunca será olvidada.
Para crear un monumento en el patio de la escuela, esperamos plantar un nuevo y brillante árbol de arce de celebración en su honor. Este será un hermoso lugar para que los estudiantes, el personal y otros visitantes tomen un descanso para disfrutar de la naturaleza, la sombra y posiblemente incluso leer un buen libro para relajarse. También esperamos instalar un banco inscrito hecho para recordarla. El atractivo y útil banco se colocará dentro de nuestra área de juegos para niños. La zona de juegos para niños era uno de sus lugares favoritos para estar durante el día escolar viendo a los estudiantes jugar juntos y reír.
Nuestro objetivo es completar este memorial ya sea para el final de este año escolar o justo antes del comienzo del año escolar de otoño de 2021. Cuando se complete el memorial, realizaremos una inauguración de distanciamiento social en persona y virtualmente para la familia, el personal, los estudiantes y los miembros de la comunidad. Los fondos serán manejados por la administración de la escuela y el club Sunshine. Si recaudamos fondos adicionales, usaremos esos fondos adicionales para comprar mantillo y plantar flores alrededor de la escuela para ayudar a mantener el espacio ambiental que Olga tanto amaba, así como una donación a su familia.
Solo se aceptarán donaciones en efectivo en la escuela Morgandale.
