We are so excited for Director Guy Nattiv's new film, Tatami! The epic Iranian-Israeli sports thriller just opened this past weekend in NYC (IFC Center) and opens in LA (Laemmle Royal) this coming Friday. Talk about timing...

Golda premiered 1.5 months before October 7th, the 50th anniversary of the 1973 Yom Kippur War...we tried to warn Israel...we failed.

TATAMI opened the same date (6.13) that Israel attacked Iran, a preemptive strike like in 1967, to avoid another surprise attack like in 1973.

We have lost a titan of film and a brilliant and thoughtful Jewish executive.

In April 2023, Andrew Karpen hired Mean Streets Management to build the Jewish community and Friends of Israel engagement strategy for GOLDA, a film that received tremendous BDS backlash and calls to stop theaters from showing it.

Together with our incredible Director, Guy Nattiv, who gave all his time to the pre-release press tour during the SAG strike when we had no other Talent to help, AND with the brilliant Dame Hellen Mirren, who traveled to Israel for the Israeli Premiere, accepting an award on stage (maybe 24hrs before the strike started), where she declared her long time love and support for Israel, we rallied the Jewish community and Friends of Israel to be our amazing partners to champion GOLDA.

Andrew was very happy with the GOLDA SUMMER PROJECT and its power of partnership for the film.

The film was a remarkable theatrical and PVOD success, because of Andrew and the team that he led with strength and conviction like no other.

Every Jewish and Israeli film following GOLDA has benefited from Andrew’s strategy for GOLDA.

If only our warnings about another Yom Kippur War had resonated stronger, but at least we were better organized as a community to help Israel when October 7th happened a month and a half after the film’s US release.

Andrew passed away on Yom Hazikaron, the day we memorialize our fallen IDF soldiers. Andrew’s dedication to GOLDA brought more awareness 50 years later to the 2600+ IDF soldiers killed during the 1973 Yom Kippur War. Now Andrew will always be remembered on the same day we remember our fallen soldiers.

Baruch Dayan Ha-Emet. May Andrew’s memory be a blessing.

a year ago Golda was in theaters around the USA and Canada. Who knew we were unwittingly warning the world of what could happen, and then did happen, on October 7th. This has been a very difficult year since Hamas invaded Israel, killed 1200+ Israelis, took 200+ hostages and has continued to shoot rockets, murder hostages and kill our soldiers and injure soldiers and civilians.

last summer Golda, Directed by Guy Nattiv, opened the Jerusalem Film Festival with special guest and honoree, Dame Helen Mirren.

This summer, Director Guy Nattiv is the Jury President and esteemed Actress, Jennifer Jason Leigh, was the special honoree.

It was once again a beautiful and magical night, celebrating Israeli and international films and talent and focusing on our strength together to continue to create and promote cultural programming about and in Israel.

The opening night also brought awareness to our brave IDF soldiers fighting in Gaza, the Israeli hostages still held by Hamas in Gaza and prayers to bring everyone home.

Hostage family members, evacuee families and soldiers were invited as guests to opening night.

Mazel tov to everyone at the Cinematheque for a wonderful and powerful festival start and what has been an amazing international film festival.

Golda Meir was born 122 years ago, on May 3, 1898, in Kiev, Ukraine. She passed away on December 8, 1978, in Jerusalem, Israel.

Historian James Loeffler will give the Stahl Center for Jewish Studies’ annual Distinguished Lecture on “The Crime of Menticide: Antisemitism and Hate Speech in American Law,” on April 11 at 7 p.m. at the Golda Meir Library, Fourth Floor Conference Room.
