We are the student chapter at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Engineers Without Borders-USA is a non-profit humanitarian organization established to partner with developing communities worldwide in order to improve their quality of life.

Check out our blog covering the January 2026 Engineers Without Borders trip to Pulay, Quiché, Guatemala! We designed, fundraised, and helped build a 7km gravity-fed water system to bring drinking water to a community of 900+ people. It was an honor to work with such a generous and kind community.

Many thanks to all of those that contributed logistically, financially, and in spirit to make this trip a reality.

You can find the EWB@UWM 2026 travel team in Pulay, Quiché, Guatemala!

Last week, 7 students helped complete concrete water structures, interviewed 113 community members, hosted a women-only presentation and discussion, and laid PVC pipe through the jungle.

We couldn’t be more grateful for our partners and the community members for their kindness and generosity during these weeks.

We’ve still got another week to go! Stay tuned for more updates!

Hi all!

In 2026, the EWB@UWM travel team will travel to Pulay, Guatemala to construct our longest pipeline system to date -- totaling nearly 4.5 miles of HG and PVC pipe. Our team is up to the building challenge!

Unfortunately, EWB@UWM had to make the difficult decision to cancel this year's Annual Benefit for Clean Water.

Please watch and share this video. We need to share what is going on and we need to help those affected by Hurricane Lota.

The rains and winds from Hurricane Lota have caused major flooding and landslides in Guatemala. You can hear the water ripping through buildings in the video. Many homes have been buried or flooded including those of our close friends and colleagues. Additionally, many bridges have gone down cutting villages off from the city and in turn the food, shelter, and medical resources there. The constant rain exacerbates issues of food scarcity as many lost their crops.

Our colleague, Diego Ramirez, and his NGO called ACCMARI are currently asking for help from EWB at UWM to purchase food and other supplies until larger relief efforts on the municipal and national level go into effect. If you can, please donate to this relief effort through paypal (paypal.me/EWBatUWM) or contact us directly. Any help is greatly appreciated.

As you may know, the Engineers Without Borders at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Chapter (EWB at UWM) to assesses, designs, and builds water distribution and sanitation systems with communities in the Ixil Triangle of Guatemala. Last week, hurricane Eta passed through the Ixil triangle and left the communities, our friends, in a very desperate situation.

The rains and winds from Eta have caused major flooding and landslides. Many homes have been buried or flooded including those of our close friends and colleagues. Additionally, many bridges have gone down cutting villages off from the city and in turn the food, shelter, and medical resources there. The constant rain for two weeks exasperates issues of food scarcity as many lost their crops.
