Try reflecting on these questions once a week or even once every couple of months to check in on, well, you.
How you doin', fam? You good? Inform your self care behavior with real and true information about where you've come from, where you are, and where you see yourself going.

Take a moment to think about what's important to you.
What's important to you? Do you know the details around what you value? Consider the following:
What do you need to feel well and balance?
What drains you?
What do you stand for?
What will you not tolerate?
How do you like to spend your time?
What do you deserve?
What do you have to offer?
Who do you prefer to spend your time with?
How do you like to work?
What boundaries empower you?
What do you expect from friendship?
What does it mean to be your best in any given context?
Etc.
Take the time to get to know who you are so that you can be the best advocate and caretaker of your values and needs.

Zoom out from your hyper-focus on outcomes, and redirect some of your attention to the process...
~ Admire how you make space for opportunity, respond to challenges, and commit to yourself time and again.
~ Marvel at what you have overcome. What you have survived.
~ Affirm and take pride in the resources and wisdom you have accumulated.
I promise, you, there’s good stuff here. Take it all in, because you deserve to see the whole beautiful picture.

Forget everyone else for a sec: What are your standards around performance, relationships, how you believe people should be treated? What works/doesn’t work for your well-being and sense of empowerment? What do you have to offer other people? What do you want to receive?
Get clear on what you want, what you expect, and what you hope for so that you can curate those things for yourself and communicate what you need to access them. Manifestation, bringing your vision to life, starts with clarity. You're on your way.

As your coach, I want to remind you that without the grace of patience, we’re expending precious energy judging ourselves, treating ourselves with rigidity, and stifling the very power we need to persevere though tough times. Pursue your goals, shoot for the stars, do all the things, but leave space for your humanity in the process. Don’t sleep on patience.

Some people believe putting yourself first means not caring about others. For some it can mean that....that commentary is a distraction from our true intentions though.
For most of us, self care means shoring up the resources we need to put back into the people, places, and things that we genuinely care about and love. It means making sure that we are well enough to show up authentically and lovingly. That's the conversation most of us are trying to have.
When people equate "self care" with "selfish," they are likely pouring from an empty cup themselves or trying to extract your divine goodness for their own gain. Ultimately, they are projecting a values system that has nothing to do with you and your well-being.
Before checking on everyone else, try checking in on yourself first to see what resources you're working with, what you need, and how you can make decisions with those important reflections in mind. Try it out for a week, and reflect on how things went (e.g., Did the Earth indeed stop spinning?).
