Join Community Transformation Players on Saturday, September 26 for an introduction to clowning and physical theater techniques! Even if you don't intend to become a clown, these techniques are a great foundation for other performance and character work.
Are you a little silly? Do you ever play the fool in your friend group? Do you yearn to mock the king? You’re not alone partner! Come join us for a three hour ~soirée~ where we will give you the tools to experiment and find your inner clown!
This workshop will be exploring the clowning principles of vulnerability, play and failure through games and exercises. Come dressed to move, bring a snack, and get your whimsy on!
About Community Transformation Players:
Grace Koch (she/they) holds a BA in theater from Loyola University Chicago and graduated from the PTP program at Dell' Arte International School of Physical Theater in Blue Lake, California. There, they met and co-created performance company Magenta Mountain Majesty and premiered original clown sci-fi show Big Bug Island at North Coast Repertory Theater. They’ve also spent time in Portland, Oregon, organizing and performing with Clown as Protest, a group of clowns engaging in Anti-war activism and tomfoolery! They love the transformative power of clowning and physical theater and want to continue to create joyful, accessible and honest spaces to practice tomfoolery!
Isa Spetz is a fool from the theatre. They hail from Wisconsin and have a BFA in theatre from NYU, with physical acting training under Orlando Pabotoy. They were a founding member of Soft Brain Theatre Company and enjoy playing music, growing plants, and acting silly. They have experience with mask acting work and a little commedia dell’arte, and they love to center mindfulness, ease, and embodied voice in their work.
