We are still exploring our Bug Unit this week! 🐞🐝🦗
Today, the children participated in a bug identification and coloring activity where they were encouraged to color each bug its correct color. This may seem simple but this activity supported much more than art skills.
As the children worked, they practiced following directions, identifying colors, recognizing different insects, and recalling information they learned during our bug lessons. For example, children learned that bees are typically yellow and black, ladybugs are red with black spots, and grasshoppers are green.
Activities like this help children strengthen their memory, observation skills, attention to detail, and fine motor development while making connections between what they learn in the classroom and the world around them. When they see these insects outside, they can recognize them and remember what they learned.

Today we talked about the process and stages of a caterpillar turning into a butterfly 🐛🦋
Our kids were able to practice their pasting skills by gluing the items in the correct order while learning about sequencing and life cycles. Our smaller friends also worked on counting bugs and building early math skills 🐞✨
Today was overall such a good day ❤️
