The Three R's of Education - and Play
1. Relationship
2. Relationship
3. Relationship

• The first great literacy (body of knowledge - you can read it, understand and participate) is People Literacy because we are a social species. For that, our kids look to us for models on getting along with people harmoniously. It's all about relationship.
• The second great literacy (body of knowledge - you can read, understand and participate) is Earth Literacy (eco-literacy) because we are Earthlings. For that, our kids need lots of time in nature. They look to us for models on getting along with the natural world harmoniously. It's all about relationship.
• The third great literacy (body of knowledge - you can read, understand and participate) are the cultural literacies of story, music, dance, reading, writing, number .... Our children look to us as models of people who love story, music, dance etc. It's all about relationship.

The genius of play is that it is the genetically encoded method for becoming literate in all three of the great human literacies. Play is all about relationship.
