CERT Students preparing for real life jobs
More and more of the Great Lakes CCC’s work projects are located in high-traffic corridors where Corps members are installing green infrastructure, enhancing the urban canopy and maintaining public greenspaces. A prerequisite skill is the knowledge to properly control and alert traffic to the work in progress to maximize safety for pedestrians and drivers alike. Corps members complete a traffic control and flagger certification course to be prepared to perform the urban conservation work. The skillset is transferable to employment with public works departments, road construction and utility contractors, etc.
