ULC at UWM

The University Legal Clinic at UW-Milwaukee provides efficient and effective legal assistance to currently enrolled students.

The University Legal Clinic operates on a walk-in basis. When you come in, you should be prepared. Bring any information and documents that may be pertinent to your case. Be prepared to explain the issue in detail with one of our volunteer paralegals. The University Legal Clinic will most likely be able to assist you if you meet the following criteria:
1. Be a currently enrolled student,
2. Have a

n issue that isn't against another student, faculty member, or any UWM entity, and
3. Have not already retained an attorney for the issue you are bringing to us. After filling out the necessary paperwork, a paralegal will gather the case information in a private interview. Your paralegal, who is your point of contact through the entire process, will then discuss the case with the staff attorney. If needed, an appointment will be made for you to see the attorney. Most issues can be resolved during one visit. In some situations students may meet with the attorney multiple times. It is at the attorney's discretion whether or not he will continue with your case after the first meeting. If we cannot assist you throughout your entire case, we have referral information available (found under the resources link) to get you in touch with other organizations that may be able to assist you.

Introducing another staff member for this up coming school year we have -

Abagail, our 2022 - 2023 Office Manager

"Hi my name is Abagail Houck and I am a junior majoring in Women and Gender Studies with a certificate in LGBT+ studies.

I am going into my second year of being the ULC’s office manager. I am also the graphic designer coordinator at the Women’s Resource Center. Outside of my constant studies and work schedule, I love to find new things to watch with my boyfriend, build legos, and read. Currently obsessing over Twilight (again), Stranger Things, Marvel, and many more. I have my amazing cat Clementine who always puts up with my shenanigans, especially during Halloween.

I am thrilled to welcome everyone into our space in the spring and make the legal clinic feel like a comfortable and safe environment for all!"

The ULC is excited to welcome students back in the fall!

We would like to kick things off by introducing this year's paralegals that will be assisting our clients,

Jordann, our 2022 - 2023 Director of Personnel

My name is Jordann Meinhardt, and I am the Director of Personnel here at the ULC. This year I'm looking forward to the in-person events we have planned to advocate for the legal clinic.

In addition to being a member of the legal clinic, I also participate in our Mock Trial Team! But outside of school activities, I love to weight train, travel, and watch Marvel movies and True Crime with my partner Kadin. I have two German Shepherds, Phinnley and Benntley, and they are the sweetest boys in the world!

I'm so excited to meet all the new trainees and build our team with more and more in-person events!

Congratulations to our Trainee and Paralegal of the Month, Joey and Eleni!
Joey is majoring in Criminal Justice, and intends to go to law school to become a criminal attorney! She enjoys working out and spending time with her friends.
Eleni is a Political Science major, and intends to go to law school as well! She enjoys learning foreign languages, and speaks English, Greek, Albanian, German and Spanish!
