So we brought wrestling to them.

If you lack fast-twitch muscles 👇🏾
A lot of youth struggle with coordination.
That’s why we spend time on drills like this.
Forward.
Sideways.
Single-leg.
Alternating patterns.
By hopping in different patterns across the line, wrestlers improve:
✔️ fast-twitch muscles
✔️ balance
✔️ coordination
✔️ reaction
✔️ focus
✔️ body awareness
These are skills that transfer beyond wrestling and into other sports and everyday life.

I’ve been coaching youth wrestling as a certified wrestling coach since I was 16/17 years old. Mind you, I started wrestling as a freshman in hs. I never used to track how many accomplished wrestlers I’ve coached. But in November 2022, Ummah Wrestling Club started with all first year wrestlers.
By February 2023:
• 10 youth state qualifiers
• 3 state placers
• multiple wrestlers only points away from placing
Then shortly after that season, we lost the original practice location due to a series of unfortunate events and the program had to temporarily stop.
2024:
We had a returning 4th state placer
We decided to continue to move forward despite the pause.
Not because wrestling needs another team.
But because Milwaukee youth need more structure, mentorship, emotional regulation, and decision making skills in constructive environments.
