We hate to break it to you, but there is an ugly truth about exercise. A 2021 study out of Europe suggests that exercise is a lot like brushing your teeth. If you don’t do it regularly, bad things can happen. In this article, The Evidence Workshop team looks at how exercise works when you do, and it works even better when you don’t quit.

We asked whether exercise reduces medication use in people with Parkinson’s disease (PD). Our question is important because, while effective, medications for PD have side effects. Exercise is an excellent candidate intervention. There is extensive evidence that exercise improves motor performance and may even slow the progression of PD.

Over the holiday break, we had time to kick back and watch some movies and TV shows. One such movie was Still Alice, which reminded us of a paper about Parkinson's disease relaying a similar message. The paper suggested that physical activity delays the clinical manifestations of Parkinson’s disease. To read more about this research, use the link in our bio!

The Evidence Workshop is discussing how balance predicts one's lifespan. We review a study about being able to balance on one foot for ten seconds. So go ahead and try it! Balance might add years to our lives.
