Today we held new student orientation for the 37 traditional nursing students and the 25 accelerated second degree (ASD) nursing students that are starting this fall.

Enjoy some fun pictures from today including a relay race and scavenger hunt thanks to the Student Nurses Association (SNA) and Nursing Honor Society (NHS).

Today the Nursing Living Learning Community started off the school year by volunteering together while giving back to local residents in need. Through Hunger Task Force, the MSOE students, staff, and faculty built 560 stockboxes full of healthy food to provide a boost to resident's pantries. After the retreat, the Nursing LLC had a cookout and a scavenger hunt, which allowed students to become familiar with the campus. Welcome to MSOE!

As the MSOE School of Nursing prepares for the new academic year, we would like to introduce our new full-time faculty, Assistant Professor Dr. Bayan Alqam. Dr. Alqam graduated with her BSN and MSN from The Hashemite University in Jordan. She received her Ph.D from UW-Milwaukee. She specializes in both mental health and gerontology and has a passion for research. We are excited to have Dr. Alqam join the MSOE SON team!

We are so proud of our nursing alum Sophia Carrillo for being nominated and WINNING the Daisy award!

Sophia graduated from our traditional BSN program in May of 2024 and works for San Joaquin General Hospital in French Camp, CA on a Med Surg Tele unit on night shift.

As Sophia’s nomination states, “her people skills are very impressive” and we couldn’t agree more!

Sophia, your patients are so lucky to have you care for them! Keep up the great work!!
