On Friday before their Achievement Ceremony, BSN and MSN students presented their posters to faculty, family, and friends. It was a wonderful opportunity to collaborate with others on very important topics and to understand the importance of pursuing lifelong learning in their profession. Congratulations to all of those who presented their work!

The School of Nursing faculty and staff celebrated the end of the semester with some fun at a Brewer's game and a surprise baby shower. Congratulations to Chris Carloni and his wife Kate on their exciting news! Everyone was able to gather and socialize and relieve a little stress before the official end to the academic year.

Good luck to all of our students who are taking final exams this week! In preparation for exams, the NUR3015 accelerated second degree students endured a 2-hour final exam study session and celebrated the end of the term with snacks, prizes, and Mardi Gras beads and noisemakers to burn some of that stress! In the meantime, traditional students in NUR3000 Transcultural Nursing class spent part of their last class together exploring how food, rituals, and shared traditions contribute to cultural identity and holistic well being. They came together to share traditional dishes in a multicultural potluck and enjoyed a variety of dishes like homemade hummus, Bulgarian bread, flan, horchata, rice pudding, Italian wedding cookies, and countless more treats. Hopefully these final classes helped students to be successful on their exams this week!

The School of Nursing faculty and staff attended the MSOE Appreciation dinner and celebrated those who won awards and those who received recognition for years of service to the institution.

Dr. Amy Ketchum, BSN Program Director, was the Mistress of Ceremonies for the night and gave all of MSOE "a look behind the curtain" using nursing mannequin patients and simulated patients as examples of excellent working relationships!

Dr. Stephanie Bruce, Professor Jennifer Jablonowski and Anna Spaude celebrated 5 years of service to MSOE. Dr. Carol Sabel celebrated 10 years of service to MSOE. And Professor April Pellmann-Span celebrated 20 years of service to MSOE. Congratulations to all on your years of service!

Next generation of future nurses??? Last week, the School of Nursing had several children come visit the lab for a pediatric health assessment. Nursing students were able to practice pulling together the skills that they learned throughout the semester. Thank you to all of the staff who brought children to interact with the nursing students. The students were able to learn so much and were so grateful for the experience.

Who done it??? 🧐

Last week the accelerated second degree (ASD) students in their second semester and their final semester participated in an Interprofessional Education (IPE) event with the School of Pharmacy students from the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW). A total of 64 students were at MSOE for the IPE event!

This IPE was a murder mystery!! MSOE students worked with the MCW students to figure out the cause of death of Mr. Wilson Brown. Students were in small groups of 8 students, with each student playing a character in the game. All characters were members of the healthcare team.

The goals of the IPE were to improve communication and collaboration between the nursing students and the pharmacy students. They all worked together well, and most groups were able to solve the cause of death!

This is the sixth year in a row that MSOE SON and MCW have been able to do the murder mystery together! We can't wait to do it again next year!!
