MPS is offering events over the summer where children can listen to stories and take part in activities. The first 25 families at each event will receive a free book!

What’s a good way to keep children engaged over the summer? Reading 📚 Sharing books together as a family or curling up with an exciting story can help keep reading skills and vocabulary sharp over the summer. Students who read in their free time are shown to be better readers, have a larger vocabulary, score higher on tests, and have greater content knowledge.

It's time for Freshman Bridge!
MPS high schools will host Freshman Bridge to help new students get prepared for a great freshman year. Attending Freshman Bridge helps students to be ready for the first day of class, settle in quickly, and discover the support available in high school.

Children can receive free meals at select MPS sites this summer! All Milwaukee children age 18 and under are eligible. Free breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be offered but vary by site. Meals must be eaten on site and are not available to be carried off site. Check the schedule to access free meals for children.

College and Career Centers Summer Hours 🎓
MPS College and Career Centers are available all summer to assist students in grades 6 through 12 (and beyond) with FREE college and career support and the FAFSA. Three sites are open this summer Monday through Friday, 9:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. Centers will be closed July 4-5. Kilbourn Elementary School teacher recognized for 33 years of dedication Kilbourn Elementary School on Milwaukee’s north side has eleven teachers each of who have been there for 25 or more years.
Twilight Centers provide safe, fun spaces for young people. At the Twilight Centers, offers programming and extended hours at select school locations so young people in the city have a safe place to go during the evenings for free. mkerec.net/twilight

Our Summer Academy: Computer Applications in Art class is off to a fantastic start! This past Monday, June 24th, students dove into the world of design using Canva.
The M-Cubed Annual Planning Summit on June 21st brought together MPS, MATC, and UWM for a productive day. They reflected on the shared mission, vision, and goals, solidifying a commitment to work together.
MPS offers virtual education through its MVP program for children in grades K5–12!
Students in kindergarten through grade 5 receive face-to-face instruction for part of the day. Students in grades 6–12 work independently. On-demand tutoring is available for all ages.
Students are connected to an MPS school where they can choose to participate in sports, clubs, and activities. High school seniors graduate from their connected MPS school. Enrollment is open now!
