On July 10th, we will be hosting our EOP Alumni Engagement Day at Marquette University. This is more than just an event, it’s an opportunity to build legacy, mentorship, and real pathways for our students across all TRIO programs.
We are currently looking for alumni across a range of career fields to serve as panelists and mentors, including:
Law, Justice & Public Service
Healthcare & STEM
Business & Entrepreneurship
Creative Careers
Trades & Skilled Professions
The day will feature:
Panel 1: Law, Justice & Public Service
Panel 2: Healthcare & STEM
Panel 3: Business, Entrepreneurship & Creative Careers
Panel 4: Trades & Alternative Pathways
If you know TRIO alumni who have navigated their career journey and would be willing to share their story, insights, and advice, we would greatly appreciate you passing this along. Our students benefit immensely from seeing what’s possible through individuals who share similar backgrounds and experiences.
No matter which TRIO program they come from, their story matters — and their presence can make a lasting impact.

As we celebrate National TRIO Day, we’re proud to reshare this powerful message highlighting the legacy and impact of TRIO.
In this feature, Dr. Arnold Mitchem reminds us why telling TRIO’s story matters — because awareness drives opportunity, and opportunity changes lives.
Take a moment to reflect on the history, the mission, and the students whose futures have been shaped by TRIO programs across the nation. Let’s continue to bring TRIO’s story to life — not just today, but every day. 💙✨

Yesterday Marquette University’s Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) hosted an Etiquette Dinner.
The Etiquette Coach was Corporate Trainer, Vibe Creator, and Self-Care Champion, Kevina Vann, who taught the students how to feel comfortable anywhere, from networking lunches to formal banquets.
KV didn’t just focus on the rules of dining, but confidence, presence, and awareness. The students ate well, asked great questions, and connected with one another.
We are extremely grateful.
EOP is truly something special. It’s a community of love, education and connection.

With a heavy heart, I share the news of the passing of Dr. Gary Nunn Sr. — a Marquette University alum, Educational Opportunity Program graduate, and a beloved teacher, doctor, and human being. If you ever met Dr. Nunn, you know he had a presence that was rooted in purpose, compassion, and strength.
He was my Anatomy & Physiology instructor in the summer of 1980 when I was in Upward Bound. I remember how he made learning feel bigger than facts and formulas. It was about believing we belonged in every room we walked into—and that we could rise from any circumstance.
He poured into so many lives. From classrooms to clinics, from Upward Bound to Marquette, his legacy is stamped on hearts and histories.
To his family, colleagues, and all he made better: we are praying with you and for you. Dr. Nunn, your life was a gift—and your impact lives on.
🕊️ Rest in power, sir.
